Looking Glass

The Cooum River is one of the three rivers flowing across Chennai. The waterway was once called the ‘Thames of South India’ by the British, who chose to settle along the banks of this river. Over-utilisation of the water for the city’s growth and expansion over the last 200 years has now caused the demarcation of this river into two sections - the cleaner upstream and sewage bearing downstream. My interest has been to document the variance in the landscapes at the start and the end of the river.
